Richard Smith is an historian and UC Berkeley alumnus with over five decades of experience in politics and government - on the staff of four Presidential and US Senate campaigns; as political consultant to the State Treasurer and Attorney General of California; as a CIA  analyst in Washington and Adjunct Professor of national security issues at the Monterey Institute of International Studies.
