If you think the California State Auditor’s Office is all about taxes and numbers, think again! Our office serves multiple functions within state government and our work is nearly identical to the accounting and consulting work done at the Big Four firms. 

We offer two career pathways within our audit division: Financial Auditing and Performance/Policy Evaluation. Our financial audits cover some of the most significant financial statements in the world valued in the hundreds of billions of dollars. Our Performance/Policy Evaluation is akin to management consulting. All of the work is project-based and spans a variety of relevant and fascinating public policy issues.
