About this Event
We plan to stop at Olympic Black Power Monument to have a 30-minute open discussion about Black athletes in the Olympics and the struggles they faced racially. Our next stop will be at the Rose Garden where we will talk about the poem “The rose that grew from concrete” by Tupac and discuss our sense of belonging as students at the University. Then we will head to Great America to enjoy time together while having team-building exercises that engage in open discussion around the civil rights movement and how Black Americas have impacted America. After we will conclude with a dinner at Caribbean Grill to have a final discussion about Black-owned restaurants and how they have created a big cultural impact on our community.
