About this Event
Please join the University of California, Merced on Monday, 5/2 at 2 PM PDT for an AMA with Ail Carter.
Biography: Ali is the Director of Environment and Wildlife Policy Offshore. In this role she helps lead association and industry efforts to resolve wildlife and environmental permitting policy challenges facing offshore wind at federal and state levels. Key issues in her portfolio include offshore wind leasing and permitting, federal regulatory processes, environmental and wildlife science and research, and multiple-use compatibility including commercial fishing, among others. Previously, Ali was Deputy Director of ocean policy at the Center for American Progress. She has worked in the past as a congressional staffer for Senator Jeff Merkley, in fisheries management field positions for the California and Oregon Departments of Fish and Wildlife, and as a NOAA certified fisheries observer in the Bering Sea off the coast of Alaska. Ali earned her bachelor’s degree in marine biology and environmental science and policy from California State University Long Beach. Outside of work, she enjoys being active outdoors and spends most of her weekends hiking, camping, disc golfing, open water swimming, and outrigger canoeing.
