5200 North Lake Rd, Merced, CA 95343

Mike Truong, associate director, CRTE

Center for Research on Teaching Excellence

Earn a certificate and learn more about teaching with digital collections.

No matter the course, there's a role for new media in enriching teaching and learning experiences. This workshop is open to all faculty (Senate and non-Senate), postdoctoral scholars, graduate students and instructional staff interested in learning how to integrate new media in their curriculum.

A new media approach blends audio, video, web, and other multimedia into assignments and activities, increasing student engagement and improving learning outcomes. Throughout this series, we'll explore different approaches, including digital writing such as discussion forums, blogs and wikis; audio/video communication like multimedia projects, video essays, audio commenting and web-conferencing; mobile learning including apps for smartphones and tablets; electronic portfolios; and assessment.

To qualify for a certificate, participants are required to: a) attend one practicum workshop in July, August, December or January; b) attend four seminar series-designated workshops during the academic year; and 3) submit a final project such as a newsletter article, faculty guide, etc.; Requirements must be completed within 2012-13 academic year.

The session is limited to 12 participants. Lunch will be provided. Click here to register. For more information, visit http://crte.ucmerced.edu/ttworkshops. Here is a list of future workshops.
